“The Social Work Placement Journey” Refresher Training
This full day training will be provided jointly by Kingston University Lecturers and the Teaching Partnership.
This training is suitable for qualified Practice Educators (PEs) in need of refresher training due to not having practiced or attended relevant training for some time. Completion of this training day will serve as evidence of having refreshed their qualification.
It will also be relevant to PEs and onsite supervisors who have been unable to attend other relevant training/workshops on offer through the Teaching Partnership over the last 12 months.
Please be aware that if you have attended other recent in-person or online workshops that covered the topics below content might be similar.
You will be provided with resources and time to work with colleagues, to talk and think about your practice and to plan for resuming your practice education practice.
Topics and Learning outcomes relating to key points during the placement:
Preparation- off to a positive start
- Explore the importance of preparing for a placement and PLA meeting
- Develop a greater understanding of working with individual differences (with a focus on dyslexia)
- Explore the importance of creating a ‘safe space’
- Anti-oppressive and anti-racist PE practice

- Reflective supervision

- Explore the importance of providing feedback
- Importance of PLE feedback- triangulation of evidence in assessments
